Nokia Banana phone. There is a new Nokia 8810

Image
The banana phone is back. A startup that licenses the Nokia phone brand has unveiled a new version of the 8110, a curved mobile phone that was first released in 1996 and featured in "The Matrix." The phone, which is offered in banana yellow and black, will sell for €79 ($97). It comes loaded with a new version of the game Snake, Finnish startup HMD said in a statement. "This is a return to the glory years of Nokia," said Ian Fogg, senior analyst at IHS Markit. "But it also includes all the new technology." The 8110 comes with 4G, and a handful of apps including Google Maps, Facebook ( FB ) and Twitter ( TWTR ) . But it doesn't have a flashy operating system and users won't be able to download other popular apps. Fogg said that basic -- or "feature" -- phones are appealing because they are reliable, and can run for a long time on a single charge. The 8110 goes 25 days in standby mode, for ...

Instagram hackers are selling user emails and phone numbers

Instagram hackers are selling user emails and phone numbers Instagram alerted verified users earlier this week about a security flaw that could give hackers access to their personal information. It told the users that it had fixed the issue.        But it appears the bug was exploited before Instagram's fix, and affected more than the most high-profile accounts.     On Friday, Instagram CTO Mike Krieger published a blog post alerting all users to the security flaw. "Although we cannot determine which specific accounts may have been impacted, we believe it was a low percentage of Instagram accounts. We want to reiterate that no passwords were exposed in this issue," the company said in a statement.     A spokesperson told CNN Tech they are aware individuals are trying to sell the information, and the company is working with law enforcement. Hackers are selling email and phone number data allegedly belon...

Apple will likely unveil new iPhones on Sept. 12

iPhone users awaiting the arrival of Apple's next-generation smartphone now have a date to circle on the calendar. Apple ( AAPL , Tech30 ) will hold its annual product launch -- where it typically shows off new iPhone models and other product updates -- on Tuesday September 12. For the first time, the event will be held at the spaceship-shaped Steve Jobs Theater on its new Cupertino, California headquarters, expected to open later this year. This year is expected to be a big one for Apple, since 2017 marks the 10-year anniversary of the iPhone. Rumors indicate the company will introduce three new devices at the event: the iPhone 7S, iPhone 7S Plus and the so-called iPhone 8, which will be the 10th anniversary edition. The iPhone 7S line is expected to feature incremental updates, but the anniversary phone could get a whole new look. Hearing Implant can now stream sound right from an iphone

Image
People with hearing implants will soon be able to stream music and take phone calls wirelessly from Apple devices. Apple is teaming up with medical device maker Cochlear Limited to develop the first-ever cochlear implant sound processor that allows users to stream sound right from their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The Cochlear Nucleus 7 device, which was announced on Wednesday, received FDA approval in June. In recent years, Apple has worked with other medical device makers like GN ReSound to create iOS-compatible hearing aids . There are now more than 50 hearing aids that work with iPhones. For many, there is still a stigma surrounding hearing aids. But the high-tech versions intend to reduce some of that stress because users can discreetly make device adjustments using their phone as if they were checking an email or sending a text. Hearing aids and cochlear implants are quite different. Cochlear implants are for those with severe and profound hearing l...
